There have been significant fast track changes in the subject of community medicine after the fifth edition was published in 2017. Imperat ive need was fel t to incorporate the recent developments/advances in the book. As the whole-scale revision of the text is an uphill task, an attempt is being made to present the updated material and recent advances in the form of a supplementary book of a manageable volume and at an affordable price. This material will be of immense significance to the learned teachers/faculty of community medicine, programme managers, policy makers, students of community medicine, nursing schools and their students, dental faculty and students and public health managers. The recent advances can be linked to specific chapters or pages of fifth edition of Textbook of Community Medicine published in 2017 for better comprehension. It is the most user-friendly update.
