The Essentials of Human Genetics by Dr.Roopa Kulkarni or and Dr. R.N Kulkarni hopes to address a number of concealed issues that hamper the studies of human genetics in the country.
Human Genetics, as a subject is so vast that it deserves to be a standalone subject in medicine on its own. However, due to time constraints, the Medical Council of India considered it apt to bundle the study of genetics under first-year anatomy. The reduction in the duration of study in first-year MBBS subjects from 1.5 years to 1 year further nationally encouraged the neglect towards the study of genetics.
Keeping the above limitations in mind, the authors of Essentials of Human Genetics have tried to create a single book that encompasses all the concepts required for the study of Human Genetics at an undergraduate and postgraduate level from the exam point of view.
