This differential diagnosis is the medical art of distinguishing one disease from another that looks alike. It strengthens knowledge to draw inferences from the given set of symptoms signs and investigative findings to exclude those diseases which stimulate the actual disease of the patient, i.e. the diagnosis. The clinical acumen and capacity of the physician would enhance with the study of up-to-date tables on differential diagnosis, i.e. differentiating tables. Since knowledge of the differential diagnosis expedites the process of reaching a correct diagnosis thus relieves patients from avoidable suffering. This handbook deals with signs or symptoms apparent in diagnosis, then enumerating the causes of common findings or compliants and lastly differentiating certain diseases closely in a tabular form. In this edition ‘syndromes’ have been added to give a better differential diagnosis of certain disease. Also causes of common dental diseases have been included for the benefit of general practitioners.
